Work Experience
I started working at Les Résidences Pelletier during the pandemic, when cegeps were closed. So, I was working 13h/day, 7 days/week at the residence.
At first, I was doing the screening at the front door. Most of the time I was just sitting around doing nothing, so I offered to help with picking up the phone, moving furniture, serving the meals, etc.
Then, I did my first accounting internship there. I was doing some bookkeeping and creating a new system of shared files to organize the care team. All of this while screening at the front door. Finally, I did a second internship but this time as deputy director. I was in charge of cost analysis across 3 departments and 2 buildings. This was a fun and engaging challenge!
In this position, I am working part time (~ 35h/week) to pay my UVic tuition as I go. I am front desk, I process invoices and I am in charge of anything that touches I.T.
This is the JavaScript system I created to manage dining room orders and payment. Its complex features are fully automated using time triggers. I also made a guide for the team to learn how to use it. (The demo is an earlier version with all sensitive and accounting data redacted.)
